The octet Bitter Suite is in three movements and is about the emotional ups and downs of early adulthood. Innocence depicts a gradual awakening to some of the injustices of life. Love and Pain tells the story of a broken heart. Hope and Uncertainty juxtaposes hopes for the future with the realization that there is no guarantee of a happy ending.
「Bitter Suite ビタースイート組曲」は若き日の喜びと苦悩を表現した3楽章からな る八重奏である。第1曲Innocence（無邪気な単純さ）は、徐々に人生の不条理を知ることを、第2曲Love and Pain（愛と苦しみ）は傷ついた心を、そして第3 曲Hope and Uncertainty（希望と不確かさ）では幸せな結末を期待しつつ、同時にそのようなものの不確かさを描写している。
